These three planets and Kamino were the Galactic Republic's last strongholds (aside from Mandalore) outside of their heavily fortified capital planet; the ecumenopolis of Coruscant. The order listed below is the order of invasion and capture by the Red Empire.
Battle of Kalee: This planet was wanted by the Red Empire because of the Kaleesh species. Over hundreds of years, the planet of Kalee's atmosphere had changed so much that if any Kaleesh wanted to simply continue to live, they must then get a near complete cyborg suit (the suits are reminiscent of General Grievous's cybernetics). This led to all members of the Kaleesh Army having a minimum of two lightsabers each, and becoming highly skilled at lightsaber combat. Also, this effectively made them one of the most dangerous Republic Armies to defeat. Many members of the army were proficient with at least two of the following weapons in combat: blasters, electrostaffs, and/or lightsabers. This challenged Red Empire Commander Dranel Bensun's army, and the 5 Dark Jedi whom were aiding his forces. On the first day of the battle, Dranel's forces were outmatched, and they retreated to the highlands several kilometers from the Kalee Royal Palace. There, they regrouped, and planned their main attack on the Kaleesh Army [the first day's attack was against the unknown, trying to figure out what their enemy (Kaleesh Army) had].
The next morning, Dranel's army attacked the Kaleesh Army's flank, decimating it, forcing all survivors including Captain Goreon, to surrender. Dranel's army then decimated the rest of the Kaleesh Army within minutes, including General Garnickle (who had eight lightsabers, and was killed by two of the Dark Jedi with their Spinning Saberstaffs spinning at top speed), and Prime Minister Grat. After the deaths and captures of their superiors, the rest of the Kaleesh Army surrendered to the Red Empire. The battle marked a decisive victory for the Red Empire, and the forced entry of Kalee into the Red Empire. Darth Terix then Force Teleported himself from Denon to Kalee, and used Force Brainwash on a noncompliant Goreon and the entire population of Kalee, effectively turning them into willing citizens of the Red Empire. Goreon was then made the Military Governor of Kalee and the General in charge of the Kaleesh Army. [(The casualty counts: 1 Dark Jedi, over 100 million Hunter/Advanced Hunter Droids, and 10 Million Kaleesh (most were from the Kaleesh Army)]

Battle of Kuat: Following the Battle of Coreilla, and concurrent to the Battle of Kalee, Tiberius Maxsheerio was promoted from Vice Admiral to Admiral. After defeating the fleets protecting several more Republic planets including Mon Karkaramari [a planet inhabited in 342 ABY by the Quarren and Mon Calamari, and several years later by the Karkarodons, leading to the name for the planet (Mon Karkaramari) being a cross of two of these species), Maxsheerio was told to deploy his fleet to Kuat, the planet where the Republic had their ship (and tank) yards, known as the Kuat Drive Yards, as well as where the Republic armies arms manufacturers BlasTech Industries. Mon Karkaramari was the first planet that Maxsheerio lost since 527 ABY because the army he deployed for ground and underwater assault were nowhere near as effective as the naval fleet he directly commanded, and the natives' uprising lead to a planetary surface victory for the Republic. Darth Terix told Maxsheerio that it was not his fault that the army lost the surface battle, and only punished the commander in charge of the ground and underwater assault [with death (the commander was executed by Maxsheerio on the bridge of the Destructicon under Terix's orders)]. Terix then told Maxsheerio that he did not want to spend more energy defeating the people of Mon Karkaramari. Instead, he instructed Maxsheerio to recall his fleet and to prepare for his invasion of Kuat.
Two days later, Maxsheerio's massive fleet of 20,000 Red Empire Stat Destroyers, plus Maxsheerio's flagship the Emperial Star Destroyer the Destructicon were deployed to Kuat. The Republic had already evacuated roughly 2/3 of all of their completed star destroyers, tanks, walkers, and hand-held weapons; all of which had already either arrived at Coruscant, or, were travelling through hyperspace towards Coruscant). During the early stages of the battle, several Red Empire Star Destroyers almost broke through the planetary blockade, however, the ace pilot Captain Durkano and his men, the 500 "extremist" X-Wing pilots from the Battle of Coreilla) intercepted them, destroying them all with their proton torpedoes. By this point, all of the Republic's completed star destroyers and starfighters had been deployed into battle. Despite the power of these ships, they could not stop the Red Empire's stealth craft from sneaking through their blockade by the (tens of) thousands, and deploying Commander Raagti Onone's army on the planetary surface. Onone's 5 billion "man" strong army consisted of 1.5 billion Hunter Droids, 3 billion Advanced Hunter Droids, and 500 million Red Empire Troopers. The Empire's attack was led by Onone's most trusted colonel; Hashkota Bym (a Togruta female), as well as Major Zapfe Nasul (an Iktotchi male). These two officers were stationed near the front of Onone's army.
After nearly a day of brutal fighting, Maxsheerio's fleet defeated the Republic fleet. His fleet destroyed hundreds of Venatrix Star Destroyers, and caused all of the survivors to retreat (16 Venatrix Star Destroyers), or surrender (39 Venatrix Star Destroyers), and the Mirialan major Cavis Phlox's fighter squadron wiped out all of the opposing "pilots" including Durkano and his seven ace pilots. Meanwhile, virtually simultaneously to Maxsheerio's victory, Commander Onone's army came out victoriously on the surface, capturing countless Republic factories, and decimating much of the Republic forces on the ground. Most of the individuals who fought for the Republic during the battle were employees of the factories, and shipyards on the planets. This meant that there were only small numbers of true soldiers and pilots in the battle. Shortly after the battle ended, the Jedi stationed on Kuat realized the planet was lost, and they Force Teleported off of the planet with many of their surviving troopers and pilots (these were of the small groups of actual Republic soldiers and pilots). (FYI, the Jedi were only allowed to use Force Teleport as a last resort, unlike the Sith who use it whenever they want too, for any reason they choose.) Kuat's orbital construction ring was heavily damaged during the battle, but managed to survive the battle mostly intact. The victorious Red Empire quickly assumed full control over Kuat, taking over all the Republic's ginormous manufacturing plants and its orbital man-made construction ring (with Rolviper using Force Brainwash on all members of the population who did not accept the Empire's reign). In doing so, the Red Empire really started to prepare for their planned invasion of Coruscant. Once again, for his bravery and heroics on the battlefield, Tiberius Maxsheerio was promoted, this time to the ultimate Imperial rank of Grand Admiral; a rank that in the Red Empire, had only been given to Ofal Solaris von Forliul. Forliul himself was given this rank as an honorary rank since he was imprisoned on Coruscant, and he therefore could not receive the official promotion.
Battle of Dathomir: During the midst of the Battles of Kalee and Kuat, Red Empire forces directly under the command of Grand Commander Jennu Callipo-Bensun prepared for their attack of the Republic planet of Dathomir. Since the Dathomiri males were ferocious warriors, and the Nightsisters were powerful and deadly witches, the Red Empire knew that this would be a very difficult battle. Therefore, the Grand Commander on top of her standard forces, requested several billion extra Advanced Hunter Droids to aid her attack. Admiral Hassbree Cusbli's fleet deployed Callipo-Bensun's army into the Dathomir System. From there, they exited the star destroyers directly from the planet's surface. Callipo-Bensun's forces were split into two groups: the forces under her command attacked the Nightsister city (formerly the Nightsister lair), while the other half of her army attacked the Nightbrother city (formerly known as the Nightbrother village).
Unbeknownst to Red Empire, the Jedi had sent the Dathomirian male Jedi Master Odufo Fhthroness (who was born 501 ABY Dathomir, and used 1 green Saberstaff in battle), and the Dathomiran female Jedi Knight Azizika Mahornkress (who was born in 498 ABY Dathomir, and used two blue lightsabers) to assist them in the battle. The pair arrived in the system on their Beta Class Jedi Starfighters just moments after the Callipo-Bensun's army was deployed on the surface. Since the Jedi were flying into the area of the invasion fleet under the command of Vice Admiral Cerg Vapul, Admiral Hassbree Cusbli ordered him to intercept the Jedi before they reached the surface. Therefore, an overconfident Vapul ordered twenty F-7 Falcon Droids to be sent from his flagship, the Nemoxis, to intercept and kill the Jedi. The Jedi quickly destroyed most of the droids, causing the last few to crash into the Nemoxis. Vapul did not send in reinforcements even when bluntly commanded by Admiral Cusbli. This proved to be a major mistake for the Vice Admiral, since the last F-7 Falcon did not explode when hit by Mahornkress and ultimately crashed into the Nemoxis' bridge killing Vapul and all other officers and troopers on board. This caused a chain reaction that ultimately blew up the ship moments later.
Meanwhile, Fhthroness and Mahornkress sped ahead to avoid the forming explosion and evade laser fire the rest of Vapul's former troops. Once in the atmosphere, they split up with Fhthroness joining the Nightsisters in battle, and Mahornkress joining the Nightbrothers in battle. A furious Cusbli contacted Besalisk vice admiral Ansarkirk Kalifernu and Captain Antoko Flembrek and told them to hold the rest of the fleet in positon. Cusbli then contacted Callipo-Bensun telling her about Vapul's demise.
The battles against the Nightbrother and Nightsister clans were not in the cities. Instead, they were in the forests and mountains surrounding the cities. Colonel Bail Haaderr led the invasion of the Nightsister city with Callipo-Bensun as the overseer of that battle, while Colonel Yogar Upari led the invasion of the Nightbrother city in the swamps and mountains on the other side of the planet. part way through the battle at the Nightsister city, the Red Empire's captain Kerrick Nozzafik was wounded by a Dathomiri Hunter's Energy Bow, and had to retwreat from the battle.
After about fifteen minutes of fighting, Mahornkress and several million Nightbrothers made their way onto a mountain near the battlefield (and the Nightbrother city). At first they seemed to have the advantage, however, Major Jezzug Grapiniexulp and his men then arrived on Red Empire Stealth Landing Craft, blocking any possible escape for the Dathomirians. At this point, the Red Empire ceased fire, and Colonel Upari (via Hologram) offered the Dathomirians terms for surrender. They were told if everyone including Mahornkress surrendered, no one else would be killed. Upari then told Mahornkress that his forces had killed Nephle Tullvess, the leader of the Nightbrother Clan, during the battle.
At the same time, Mother Isosla (who was born in 462 ABY Dathomir), Fhthroness, and the Nightsisters had just lost the battle by the Nightsister city, and were also offered the chance to surrender. Mother Isosla and the clans accepted the terms for surrender, however, Fhthroness and Mahornkress did not. They used the mostly forbidden move by Jedi known as Force Teleport to escape to their starfighters and flee the system. On their way out of the system, they were intercepted by Flembrek and the crew of the Fulcranx. The captain's plan ultimately failed, the Jedi caused the Fulcranx to explode, with Flembrek still aboard, giving up his life as a punishment for his failure. The two Jedi then realized the only way they could get past the blockade was to jump into hyperspace before passing the entire fleet (this evaded laserfire, and all tractor beams). This worked and the Jedi flew between the star destroyers and out of the system.
Asides from the escape of Fhthroness and Mahornkress, the battle was a decisive victory for the Red Empire, with Mother Isosla, the Nightsister, and Nightbrother clans all being forced to swear allegiance to the Red Empire, effectively making Dathomir part of the Empire.
